Employee Benefits

Group Health and Dental Insurance

C.L. Lewis & Co. has a group medical and dental insurance plan of which the company pays one-half of the total premium cost and you pay the other half.

The company participates in Section 125 Healthcare Plan whereby the premium you pay is deducted before taxes so you don’t pay federal or state taxes on your portion of the insurance premium.

You are eligible to participate after six months of active and continuous employment on the first day of the following month. You must apply for insurance within 30 days of eligibility.

Continuation of coverage benefits will also be offered to active participants as provided for by COBRA.

Disability Insurance

Disability Insurance is available to anyone wishing to participate through Aflac.

401k Retirement Savings Plan

Employees who are 21 years of age and have one year of active and continuous employment will be eligible to participate in our 401k plan, which is a tax deferred savings program in which C.L. Lewis & Co. matches every dollar you save with an additional 50 cents up to the first 5% of salary.

Family and Medical Leave

All employees are covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. In order to qualify for a leave of absence under this program, employees must meet certain criteria and provide advance notice and medical certification to C.L. Lewis & Co. A poster providing all information and procedures for requesting a Leave of Absence under the FMLA is posted in each office trailer.

Worker’s Compensation & Unemployment Insurance

All employees will be eligible for Worker’s Compensation benefits and Unemployment Insurance benefits as it pertains to employment with C.L. Lewis & Co. as provided under the law.

EAP - Employee Assistance Program

This is a service designed to help employees and their families resolve personal concerns, which may interfere with work or home life. EAP works with you to achieve optimum wellness and your best work performance. They can help you with marital/relationship discord, family and parenting issues, depression, grief and loss, anxiety and stress, stress related to medical problems, alcohol or drug abuse, self esteem enhancement, financial strain, legal problems, job stress, and career concerns, to mention a few. EAP is available to you and your immediate family members at your request and at no cost to you or your family.

Christmas Club

You may participate in our payroll deduction Christmas Club savings plan providing your employment date coincides with the beginning of the club for the current year (new club year begins in November).

Paid Holidays

All employees with one year of active, continuous service will be eligible for five paid holidays:

  • New Years Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Vacation

After two full years of active, continuous employment, you are entitled to one week (5 days) of paid vacation.

2 - 6 Years of Service = 1 Week (5 days) Vacation
7 - 15 Years of Service = 2 Weeks (10 days) Vacation
Over 15 Years of Service = 3 Weeks (15 days) Vacation

  • On December 31, active employees who have previously met the eligibility requirements for paid vacation have earned their vacation pay.
  • Each person must get their superintendent’s approval at least 30 days before the desired vacation period. Two weeks of vacation cannot be taken consecutively without special permission from your superintendent.
  • Employees may cash in up to half of their earned vacation any time during the year.
  • Unused vacation will be paid to employees at year-end, up to half of total earned. Any balance left will be forfeited. Unused vacation cannot be carried forward to the next year.
  • Vacation benefits are measured in hours, NOT days.
  • Holidays do not fall under the definition of vacation benefits.
